For GoPro founder, surfing is the mother of all invention

Every Silicon Valley tech company needs a founder’s myth, and GoPro’s is a doozy. Licking his wounds following the collapse of his first startup, Funbug, Nick Woodman headed to Australia for a surfing holiday. To capture his trip, he wrapped a 35mm camera in a self-made waterproof enclosure and strapped it to his wrists, and there, in the surf, realised what his next company would be.
